Ok, if you are like me- you’re thinking- “But Why?! “

Why do traveling therapists get paid so much more money than permanent therapists?

I was so skeptical too. I thought.. “What’s the catch?! There’s got to be a catch!

Here is why:

1. ASAP NEED

For any of the reasons discussed in this article (LINK to Why there is a Need)- like a maternity leave, census fluctuation, or difficulty staffing therapists, There is an ASAP need, so the facilities are willing to dish out a little more to get us there because it is only short therm.

AND if they don’t have the therapists that they need to take care of their patients, not only is it poor pt care, but at the end of the day, they are a business too, so if they are not treating pts, they could be loosing money.

2. TAX-FREE BENEFITS

In addition, travel therapists get tax- free reimbursements because we are traveling away from our home for work. This tax- free money is also known as a stipend or per diem and is reimbursement for housing and meals because we are traveling for work. BUT in order to collect this money, you must adhere to government guidelines. More on that HERE. (Link to Tax- Free Benefits Post Article)
